Creating Rituals to Celebrate Yourself (Because You Deserve It)
Mar 04, 2025
Hello from paradise!
I’m currently drinking something virgin with an umbrella in it, reflecting on life, and wondering why we don’t all treat our birthdays like the sacred holidays they should be.
But let’s be real—not everyone can jet off to Hawaii for their birthday (though I highly recommend putting it on your vision board). That doesn’t mean you can’t create rituals to honor yourself—not just once a year, but every damn day.
Rituals aren’t just woo-woo nonsense.
They help signal to your brain that something matters. They create space for joy, reflection, and transition.
So here’s how to bring some of that magic into your own life:
1. A Ritual to Start Your Day with Intention
Instead of rolling over and immediately opening your phone (we all do it, no shame), try this:
-
Before getting out of bed, take three deep breaths and set an intention for the day.
-
Repeat a simple mantra like: “I move through my day with ease and confidence.”
-
Stand up, stretch, and drink a glass of water before anything else (yes, before coffee).
2. A Ritual to Separate from Your Work Day
Especially if your home is your office, your brain might not know when to shut off.
Try this:
-
Change clothes at the end of your work day (even if it’s just switching from “day pajamas” to “night pajamas”).
-
Play a transition song or make a cup of tea as a signal to your brain that work is done.
-
Step outside for five minutes. Breathe in fresh air. Touch the ground. (Literally.)
3. A Ritual for Prioritizing YOU
-
Once a week, schedule non-negotiable time for yourself.
-
Write it in your calendar like it’s an important meeting (because it is).
-
Use this time to do something purely for you—read, dance, take a bath, stare at the ceiling and do nothing.
Life moves fast, and if you don’t create space to honor yourself, no one else will do it for you. Whether it’s a full-blown birthday trip or five minutes of morning intention, rituals help you anchor into what matters.
So tell me—what’s your ritual going to be? Drop a comment, or better yet, go start one right now.
And if you need me, I’ll be over here, toasting another year of fabulous existence.
Cheers to YOU.
